During the 1980's, there have been approximately 125 terrorist acts attributed to domestic groups in the United States.
Abstract
While most of these acts occured early in the decade and rates have been declining as a result of arrests and prosecutions, the threat from domestic groups has not been eliminated. Among white leftist groups, the United Freedom Front, the Red Guerilla Resistance, the Armed Resistance, and several other groups continue to be active. Puerto Rican leftist groups, such as Armed Forces of the National Liberation (FALN) and the EPB-Macheteros, have been responsible for more than 70 terrorist acts both domestically and in Puerto Rico. Black religious cults and leftist groups have been responsible for three terrorist incidents and have been involved in other criminal activities. Right-wing groups, such as the neo-Nazi Order and Posse Comitatus, have been responsible for bombings, robberies, and assaults. Finally, approximately 20 incidents have been attributed to militant Jewish terrorists. Photographs.
