Service and enforcement are two critical components of the protection order process These two parts help hold offenders accountable and enhance the safety of law enforcement, victims and the entire community.
This presentation will focus on addressing challenges in service and enforcement of foreign protection orders under the full faith and credit provision of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA).
Through the use of scenarios, participants will examine and evaluate the enforceability of various types of orders (i.e., ex parte, mutual, criminal, and tribal orders).
Participants will learn strategies to enhance communication and collaboration to facilitate service and enforcement of orders.
