This second edition of Best Practice Standards for adult treatment courts incorporates best practices that have been tested and proven over the past decade in a range of adult treatment court models; it addresses frequently asked questions from the field, builds on the experiences and observations of faculty and audiences, and provides detailed commentary and practical tips to help programs implement best practices in their daily operations.
This document provides an updated version of best practices from adult treatment courts, based on experience from a diverse committee of treatment court practitioners, researchers, and other experts. Each revised standard was peer-reviewed by at least 15 subject-matter experts. This second edition includes a statement on the core principles of best practices in each area; provisions on observable and measurable best practice recommendations; and research commentary and evidence-based guidance on how to implement the standards in daily operations. Interested parties may find the whole first edition, as well as specific sections that have yet to be updated in the second edition, an overview of the second edition of the Standards, and the updated, second-edition version of the first six sections, plus sections eight and 10.
