Abstract
"The Future of Child Protection" features the vision of Jim Walters for the protection of children. He is the AMBER Alert Training and Technical Assistance Program Administrator. After reviewing existing accomplishments in technical assistance and training under his leadership, his vision of the development and delivery of onsite evidence-based training for law enforcement's response to missing and at-risk children is outlined. "Faces of the AMBER Alert Network" profiles the work of Brent Currence, who is the Education Coordinator for the Ohio Missing Persons Unit and serves on the Ohio AMBER Alert Steering Committee. "On the Front Lines" presents a case study that involved the rescue of two children with the help of law enforcement officers in Idaho and Nevada. "AMBER Alert in Indian Country" reports on the recent installment of the Navajo AMBER Alert system; the proposal of "Savanna's Law" as a way to find missing women and children in Indian country; and the attendance at President Trump's State of the Union Address of the mother of Ashlynne Mike, who was abducted and murdered on the Navajo Nation reservation in May 2016. "AMBER Alert International" describes AMBER Alert programs in Europe, Punjab, Canada, and the Cayman Islands. "AMBER Alert Briefs" provides summaries of work related to AMBER Alert throughout the country.
