This document provides brief summaries of five Bureau of Justice Assistance programs, geared toward law enforcement agencies, in order to increase national crime analysis capacity.
This brief document provides short paragraphs describing five programs of the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) that aim to benefit the capacity for crime analysis in state, local, and tribal law enforcement agencies. The programs described include: BJA National Training and Technical Assistance Center (NTTAC), offering crime analysis on demand tailored training and technical assistance (TTA); Increasing Crime Analysis Capacity, which is a crime analysis symposium for law enforcement leaders; Building Analytical Capacity, providing regional and online workshops on crime analysis for chief executives; Building a Nationwide Crime Analysis Capability, in which BJA, in partnership with the Institute for Intergovernmental Research (IIR) is using three pilot sites for a program which will result in an implementation toolkit for useful crime analysis resources; and Putting a Value on Crime Analysts, which provides guidance and a cost-benefit analysis for law enforcement executives to understand how crime analysts contribute to the goals and mission of policing.
