This is a guide for grantees on what to include in the content of an Implementation Plan package that shows how a grantee under the Byrne Criminal Justice Innovation (BCJI) will implement BCJI's core principles, which are designed to reduce crime and improve community safety in the revitalization of distressed communities.

Abstract

The Implementation Plan package should have three basic elements: the implementation-plan narrative, a visual representation of strategies and research base, and an implementation-phase work plan. The implementation plan narrative should be composed of the planning process and methods, findings on crime and its drivers in the targeted areas, proposed strategies for addressing findings on crime, plans for ongoing research, plans for community engagement, and plans for sustaining the effort. The visual representation of strategies and research base is intended to complement the narrative by providing a visual representation of how proposed strategies relate to the identified crime drivers. The implementation phase work plan consists of a listing of main strategies, related tasks, the party responsible for each task, and the expected time frame for completion. Illustrative samples are provided for the various components of the Implementation Plan package.
