This report provides key findings regarding event security for the Republican National Convention (RNC).
Abstract
Results show that the Tampa Police Department's (TPD's) operational response throughout the RNC was effective and aligned with its mission and planning objectives. Officers were prepared to deal with the incidents that arose and were able to maintain positive interactions with the demonstrators throughout the event. This after-action report (AAR) documents key findings of the overall security planning and operations in support of the TPD public safety and security operations for the 2012 RNC from Sunday, August 26 through Friday, August 31, 2012. This Tampa Quick Look Analysis report provides the lessons learned and best practices from this event to serve as a blueprint for future law enforcement agencies in charge of maintaining security.
