This Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) publication is a solicitation overview for applications for Postconviction Testing of DNA Evidence funding.
This Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) solicitation overview provides information to potential applicants for FY 2024 Postconviction Testing of DNA Evidence funding. State, county, city, or township governments, as well as public and state-controlled institutions of higher education may apply. Successful applicants will receive funding to defray the costs associated with postconviction DNA testing in cases of violent felony offenses (as defined by state law) in which actual innocence might be demonstrated. This includes activities such as reviewing suitable postconviction cases, locating and analyzing biological evidence, improving the preservation of biological evidence, and modernizing record retention for relevant postconviction cases. BJA encourages agencies that have not previously received BJA funding and convening or governing bodies that can apply on behalf of one or more entities to apply.
