This solicitation overview by the Bureau of Justice Assistance invites applications for the FY 2024 Public Safety Officers’ Benefits (PSOB) National Law Enforcement Survivor Support and National Firefighter and First Responder Survivor Support Programs Competitive Grant Program.
This publication announces the FY 2024 Public Safety Officers’ Benefits (PSOB) National Law Enforcement Survivor Support and National Firefighter and First Responder Survivor Support Programs Competitive Grant Solicitation. Native American tribal organizations (other than federally recognized tribal governments); nonprofits with or without 501(c)(3) status (other than institutions of higher education); for-profit organizations (other than small businesses); and small businesses are eligible to apply to receive funding to provide the families of fallen and injured law enforcement officers, firefighters, and other first responders with support with filing applications for federal benefits for line-of-duty deaths and catastrophic injuries. This program also provides survivor peer support and counseling services and resources to survivors of fallen law enforcement officers, firefighters, and other first responders nationwide, as well as recognizes families and fallen officers at national memorial events. Agencies that have not previously received BJA funding and convening or governing bodies that can apply on behalf of one or more entities are encouraged to apply. The announcement includes tips for success, examples of strategies/activities that can be funded, and information about how and when to apply.
