This briefing booklet provides an overview of Global’s approach to solving justice- and intelligence-related information-sharing public safety business problems.
This document describes the role and importance of the Global Justice Information Sharing Initiative (Global), and its Global Advisory Committee (GAC). It highlights the tools that Global provides for justice and public safety practitioners, including: technically interoperable products; a range of resources for policy making; tools for lowering implementation costs of justice information-sharing solutions; and guidance on normative standards for design, specification, and implementation of services and related infrastructure as part of a justice Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA). The document also provides guidance on where to find Global tools and solutions, with an explanation of how to navigate the available resources online. It also highlights some Global solutions that have been implemented, including: the Privacy, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties Policy Development Guide for State, Local, and Tribal Justice Entities (Privacy Guide); the Global Privacy Resources as a guidebook to the resources and capabilities available for every stage of the privacy program cycle; and the Nationwide Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR) Initiative. Links to resources described are included, along with an additional page of hallmark Global resources with descriptions and links.
