Abstract

Hosted by Director Kristina Rose, of the Office for Victims of Crime (OVC), this Justice Today podcast episode presents a discussion of the current efforts that have been bolstered by the passage of the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) 40 years ago, in 1984. This episode features Abrianna Morales, the program manager for the Victim Advocacy Corps, joined by two other Victim Advocacy Corps members, Grace Chungu and Thanh Nguyen. These guests look back at the advances that have been made on behalf of crime victims since the passage of VOCA, and look forward to the next 40 years to the issues they see as challenges that prevent victims and survivors from finding the justice they seek. The podcasters also consider what could be done to help service providers understand how trauma impacts behavior during and after violent crime.
