This CD-ROM of the National Criminal Justice Thesaurus contains a list of terms used to index documents contained in the National Criminal Justice Reference Service (NCJRS) Abstracts Database.
Intended for users of the NCJRS database, the thesaurus lists terms that reflect the content of documents in the database. It facilitates users' searches for materials in the database. The approximately 5,000 terms used in the database reflect the vocabulary commonly used in criminal justice literature and communications. The terms are presented alphabetically. For some terms a "scope note" or explanation of the term is provided. For each term, related terms found in the thesaurus are listed under it. Other information that can accompany a term is the indication of a broader term or a narrower term present in the thesaurus. Also indicated is the use of the term for a synonymous term not included in the thesaurus.
