Abstract
This overview describes the Platform's effort to follow the life course of new officers from their first day at the training academy until they leave the force. The report explains why this study is important to the field and the various theoretical lenses that will be used to study new officers. It offers a preview of preliminary findings and documents the wide variation in new officers' attitudes, beliefs, and styles of interpersonal communication that may predict future behavior on the job.
