This article describes the Electronic Monitoring Resource Center, a new online resource designed for the corrections community.
Abstract

The Electronic Monitoring Resource Center, an online resource, will provide a forum for information sharing between agencies and colleagues within the corrections community. This information and idea exchange technology, sponsored by the National Law Enforcement and Corrections Technology Center (NLECTC)-Rocky Mountain, provides community supervision personnel with a mechanism to connect daily rather than waiting for the next professional journal or national conference. The Electronic Monitoring Resource Center offers a Web-based forum that allows electronic monitoring by program managers, administrators, and line staff to communicate about issues in areas such as procurement, workload, and response protocols. Additionally, it makes available information on current and emerging technologies; vendor contact data; legislation such as laws from various States; procurement related documents such as invitations to bid, and requests for information; program administration such as forms, policies, and procedures; legal issues such as liability, and admissibility of electronic supervision data in court; and publications such as research studies, legislative reports, and articles. By generating new access, the center should help agencies develop better programs and improve existing programs, eventually leading to a greater utilization of electronic supervision technology. In the near future, NLECTC-Rocky Mountain plans to add a technical assistance component to the system for information on available training, and access to individuals who can answer questions.
