This edition of OJJDP News @ A Glance contains six primary articles on youth violence and youth violence prevention efforts.
Abstract
The first article highlights the discussion on mentoring and other strategies for preventing youth from becoming involved with the juvenile justice system that was held at the fourth annual National Mentoring Summit in January 2014. The second article discusses a Justice Department task force that held a public hearing on American Indian and Alaska Native children's exposure to violence. The third article discusses a Public Health Grand Rounds session held in February 2014 that examined youth violence prevention efforts and programs. The fourth article presents information on the school discipline resource package released by the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Department of Education. The fifth article details the launch of an AMBER Alert Twitter account. The sixth article presents information on OJJDP's (Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention's) Model Programs Guide expanded list of user-friendly resources.
