Abstract
This panoramic examination of police supervision offers a preliminary set of insights into this key organization function. It considers how subordinates and police chiefs from eight agencies located throughout the U.S. assess first-line supervision in their departments. Also explored is how supervisors identify with the department and its values and support management's goals.
