The Prescription Drug Monitoring Program Training and Technical Assistance Center (PDMP TTAC) reports 2020 data and 2021 features of the Alaska State PDMP.
The name of the Alaska's PDMP is Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP), which is managed by the Alaska Board of Pharmacy, Division of Corporations, Business and Professional Licensing. The PDMP email address is provided, along with the PDMP website URL and separate URLs of websites for enrollment, query, data upload, and statistics. Contact information is provided for the PDMP Manager and the Executive Administrator. Statistics for the year 2020 are reported to be 736,081 for the state population; 5,602 DEA-registered prescribers; and 109 DEA-registered dispensers. Four types of PDMP reports are available to prescribers, three for dispensers, one for patients, none for the Licensing Board, and four for law enforcement. Thirteen other types of reports are checked. PDMP budget and staffing for 2021 indicate funding sources from licensing fees, a BJA grant, and CDC grant. There is one operational employee for 2021. PDMP policies and procedures cover key PDMP dates, access information for relevant statutes and rules, miscellaneous capabilities and policies, data retention, PDMP user training, PDMP accounts, law enforcement requirements (subpoena and court order/approval), along with access methods (written request). There is required PDMP enrollment and use for prescribers and dispensers, along with a compliance process for enrollment mandates. Veterinaries have access to owner’s prescription history and are mandated for reporting compliance. Data monitored or accessible cover schedules II, III, and IV and naloxone/narcan administrations. Technological capabilities are reported, along with requestors and reports authorized for and being produced.
