The 1998 edition of the Sourcebook of Criminal Justice Statistics presents a broad spectrum of criminal justice data from more than 100 sources in 6 sections.
Abstract
The six sections cover characteristics of criminal justice systems, public attitudes toward crime and criminal justice topics, nature and distribution of known offenses, characteristics and distribution of persons arrested, judicial processing of defendants, and persons under correctional supervision. Nearly all the data contained in the sourcebook are nationwide in scope. Where possible, data are displayed by regions, states, and cities to increase their value for local decision-makers and for comparative analyses. The sourcebook includes more than 612 tables and figures, a subject index, an annotated bibliography, technical appendixes with definitions and methodology, and a list of source publishers and their addresses.
