Abstract
In the training area, an article describes a week-long learning experience at no cost to law enforcement and corrections practitioners at the National Institute of Justice's technology institutes. "Green Vehicles on Campus" describes how a college police department has used grants to purchase fuel efficient transportation vehicles such as "Segways" and vehicles similar to golf carts. "Situational Awareness Management System" (SAMS) describes how one police department has enhanced interagency communication and officer safety with a SAMS that enables it to receive immediate information on dispatches by a department in an adjoining jurisdiction. "AZLink Information Sharing System" describes interoperability software for managing information sharing among Arizona law enforcement agencies. "H.A.L.O. Camera System" describes a sophisticated, citywide camera system that has proved instrumental in fighting crime in Denver, CO. "Threat Assessment and Technology" describes a campus Internet-based system through which students and faculty can report behavior or incidents on campus that give them concern. "TECHshorts" presents a sampling of the technology projects, programs, and initiatives being conducted by the Office of Justice Programs' National Institute of Justice (NIJ) and the National Law Enforcement and Corrections Technology Center (NLECTC) System. "Grants Help Agencies Expand Budgets" provides information on grant funding sources.
