In 2011, Small, Rural, Tribal and Border Regional Center (SRTB-RC) conducted two RLETI sessions with a total of 60 participants from 19 States. In all, since 2006, 366 officers have participated in RLETI. Thirty-one administrative-level law enforcement officers (lieutenant and above) attended the 12th RLETI session, held in December 2011 in Annapolis, MD, and coordinated by the SRTB-RC on behalf of the Office of Justice Programs' National Institute of Justice (NIJ). Law enforcement and corrections agencies are increasingly challenged to tighten budgets and cut costs while maintaining accuracy and quality. Asked to do more with less without skimping on services, law enforcement and corrections agencies are seeking creative, cost-effective solutions that not only work for one agency, but may be adapted to work for another. This narrative tells the story of a police chief from a small organization and his experience receiving overwhelming support from the participants at RLETI.
