This report outlines the three goals of the Rutgers Violence Against Women Research Consortium (VAWRC).
The first goal of the VAWRC is to identify gaps in research and practice that address violence against women. The second goal of the Consortium is to implement research and evaluation projects that fill gaps in current knowledge on violence against women. The third goal of the Consortium is to disseminate research to a wide range of audiences. To achieve these goals, the VAWRC works collaboratively with interdisciplinary researchers and research scientists in the U.S. Justice Department’s National Institute of Justice (NIJ) to identify, implement, and disseminate research and evaluation projects that address the gaps in current knowledge on intimate partner violence (IPV), sexual violence (SV), stalking, and teen dating violence (TDV). The Consortium is housed at the Center on Violence Against Women and Children at Rutgers University, School of Social Work. Dr. Judy Postmus is the Primary Investigator (PI) of the Consortium, and Dr. Sarah McMahon is the Co-Primary Investigator (Co-PI).
