Abstract

These Web pages, maintained by the National Institute of Justice, contain the proceedings for the workshop Addressing Predisposition Revictimization in Cases of Violence Against Women held from January 31 - February 1, 2005, in Washington, DC. The workshop was convened to bring together individuals and organizations to examine strategies, policies, and principles currently in place and focus directions for research on the problem of victimization during the period of predisposition (post-arrest and prior to trial and/or sentencing). The topics covered during the workshop were 1) Pretrial Misconduct by Domestic Violence-Charged Defendants in the District of Columbia; 2) Problems and Challenges with Re-victimization Research; and 3) Breakout Sessions covering the following areas: Scope of the problem; Coordination, both inside and outside justice agencies; Enhancement of women's safety; Data for research; Quantifying victims' experiences; Special populations; Cultural and ethnic differences; and Demands on the community or other providers.
