This reference guide presents a comprehensive survey of over 1,300 Federal and leading State decisions decided during 1984 relating to criminal procedure, with attention to cases applying the fourth, fifth, and sixth amendments.
Abstract
Decisions covered regarding the fourth amendment include those on seizures and arrests of persons, searches and seizures, electronic surveillance, and the exclusionary rule. Areas surveillance, and the exclusionary rule. Areas covered under the fifth amendment case summary include self-incrimination, grand jury proceedings, and double jeopardy. Identification practices, right to counsel, speedy and public trial, confrontation, and compulsory process are addressed under sixth amendment decisions. Other areas covered by the handbook are guilty pleas, juries, evidence, sentencing, appeals, and habeas corpus. The case summaries are supplemented by reference to selected law review articles. A case index is supplied.
