Abstract
Attitude determines performance, and positive attitude is necessary for positive performance. Belief in oneself is a prerequisite for motivating other's to believe in you. Character gives substance and example in leading the right way. Determination is necessary to persist in the face of difficulties. Enthusiasm energizes others in times of discouragement. Failure should only strengthen the resolve to succeed with new tactics and stronger effort. Gratitude strengthens relationships and motivates consistent, positive performance. Hope shapes the future, and influence shapes the thoughts and behaviors of those around you. Joy lifts the spirits of others and fuels morale. Kindness creates and strengthens the bond of trust, and learning is the key to growth and change. Motivation brings constructive change, and "nipping" potentially damaging trends in the bud can prevent problems from escalating. Other qualities of great leadership are opportunities seen in times of adversity; perseverance in achieving goals; questioning organizational goals; respect for others; struggling through hard times; being trustworthy; uniting those around you; valuing other people; choosing words carefully; not being intimidated by the unknown ("X" being the mathematical symbol for the unknown); yearning for situations to be better than they are; and "zooming" in on what is important.
