Abstract
This document contains 20 abstracts of proposed research projects on numerous domestic violence-related topics, all of which are to be funded by NIJ Family Violence Program grants. Topics include, inter alia, the impact of arrest on the social control of violence among intimates; the role of alcohol and drug abuse in domestic violence; a domestic violence research project in the Boston, Massachusetts Police Department; the prosecution of domestic violence in rural counties; child abuse case processing in the justice system; the evaluation of domestic violence training programs in Massachusetts; the coordination of criminal and dependent courts in child maltreatment; the evaluation of law enforcement training, technical assistance, and dissemination of information provided under the Family Violence Prevention and Services Act; the management of the specialized sex offender population; the evaluation of the effectiveness of civil protection orders in preventing domestic violence and assisting the victims of domestic violence; the impact of domestic violence on children; the effects of child hearsay on jurors; the extent, nature, and consequences of direct and indirect victimization of children and adolescents in America; childhood victimization and adult violence; parental drug testing in child abuse cases; divorce mediation and spousal violence; and the extent, nature, and consequences of various forms of violence and threats of violence against women in America.
