Abstract
The Subcommittee members differentiated between white collar crime, and cases where corporations wrongfully used their funds as a matter of policy, with the approval and active participation of top-ranking management. The hearing was convened to examine the extent and seriousness of corporate abuses, their impact on economic policy, the estimated costs of corporate abuses to the taxpayer, and potential solutions to these problems. Witnesses included, inter alia, the Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission, officials from the General Accounting Office, and corporate officers of Translinear, Inc. 1 appendix
