This report presents speeches and discussion from the 19th Colloquy on European Law held November 6 to 9, 1989 in Luxembourg.
Abstract
It is sponsored by the Council of Europe together with the Ministry of Justice of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. The objectives of the 23 State Council of Europe are to protect and develop human rights and fundamental freedoms and to promote the economic and social progress of its members. Topics covered during the sessions include abuse of rights in comparative law; concept of abuse of rights and the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms; unfair terms in standard form contracts; abuse of rights in employer-employee relations; and abuse of rights in housing law. The Colloquy concludes that there is now an opportunity to proceed beyond the individualistic concepts of law familiar to the jurists from the East European countries.
