AN OUTLINE OF THE AUTHOR'S HEURISTIC DEVICE FOR UNDERSTANDING THE PSYCHOLOGY OF THE MURDERER, WITH SEVERAL CASE EXAMPLES OF MURDERERS ENCOUNTERED BY THE AUTHOR IN GROUP THERAPY SESSIONS.
Abstract
THE AUTHOR STATES THAT MURDER IS COMMITTED EITHER IN A NORMAL STATE OF CONSCIOUSNESS OR IN AN ALTERED ONE. TYPICALLY, WHEN A PERSON DEFENDS HIMSELF OR ATTACKS, THE VICTIM BECOMES TO HIM AN 'OBJECT', AND NO ALTERED STATE OF CONSCIOUSNESS IS NECESSARY. HOWEVER, WHEN THE MURDERER FEELS A LOVE-HATE CONFLICT TOWARDS THE PERSON HE KILLS, THE AUTHOR CONTENDS THAT HE MUST ALTER HIS STATE OF CONSCIOUSNESS TO BE ABLE TO CARRY OUT THE DEED.
