This report on the Institutes of the United Nations Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Program Network is part of item 5(e) of the provisional agenda of the 20th session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice of the United Nations (UN) Economic and Social Council, which was held in Vienna, Austria, on April 11-15, 2011.
Abstract
This report is a component of the broader topic of item 5 (e), which is the "integration and coordination of efforts by the U.N. Office on Drugs and Crime and by member states in the field of crime prevention and criminal justice." The report summarizes the activities performed in 2010 by the institutes that compose the U.N. crime prevention and criminal justice program network. Regarding the activities of the U.N. Interregional Crime and Justice research Institute, the Board of Trustees of the Institute will submit a report to the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice at its 20th session. The report will include information on the activities undertaken by the Institute in 2010. Each of 14 regional and affiliated institutes presents a report on its activities in 2010. A separate report is presented on the 2010 activities of the International Scientific and Professional Advisory Council, as it continued its activities in the area of crime prevention and criminal justice in close cooperation with the U.N. Office on Drugs and Crime. Its activities include the management of publications, conferences, and meetings on countermeasures for various types of international crime.
