Abstract
The brief section on the activities of the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute refers the reader to the report of the Institute's Board of Trustees submitted to the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice at its 22nd session. The report's section on the activities of the regional and affiliated institutes addresses the work of 15 institutes operating in the regions and nations of Asia and the Far East, Latin America, Europe, Africa, Australia, the United States (National Institute of Justice), and Korea. Institutes with an international orientation include the International Centre for Criminal Law Reform and Criminal Justice Policy, the International Institute of Higher Studies in Criminal Sciences, the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law, the International Centre for the Prevention of Crime and the College for Criminal Law Science. The activities of the International Scientific and Professional Advisory Council pertain to its mission of drawing on the contributions of non-governmental organizations, academic institutions, and other relevant entities in assisting the United Nations in criminal justice-related program development and implementation. Its focus is on collaboration in scientific research as a basis for policy development and action, as well as providing access to the services and expertise of the constituent organizations. Activities include technical assistance, training and education, research, monitoring, and evaluation.
