THE FLOW OF ADULT BURGLARY ARRESTEES THROUGH THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM OF ADA COUNTY, IDAHO, IS ANALYZED IN A REPORT BY THE IDAHO LAW ENFORCEMENT PLANNING COMMISSION'S STATISTICAL ANALYSIS CENTER.
Abstract
THE ANALYSIS FOLLOWS 147 PERSONS ARRESTED FOR BURGLARY IN 1975 THROUGH THE STAGES OF THE LEGAL PROCESS (PRETRIAL STATUS, PROSECUTION, DISPOSITION, SENTENCING). SCHEMATIC DIAGRAMS DEPICTING THE CASE FLOW NOTE THE PERCENTAGES OF ARRESTEES WHOSE CASES WERE DISPOSED OF AT EACH DECISION POINT. THE ANALYSIS SHOWS THAT 49.7 PERCENT OF THE PERSONS ARRESTED FOR BURGLARY WERE CONVICTED, AND THAT 90 PERCENT OF THE ARRESTEES WHO WERE PROSECUTED WERE CONVICTED. OF THE 73 PERSONS CONVICTED, 54 WERE INCARCERATED AND 19 WERE GRANTED PROBATION. THE AVERAGE TIME FROM ARREST TO DISPOSITION WAS 94.9 DAYS. DETAILS OF THE ANALYSIS ARE PRESENTED IN A NARRATIVE ACCOUNT ACCOMPANIED BY SUPPORTING TABULAR DATA. (LKM)
