Abstract
These Web pages, maintained by the National Institute of Justice (NIJ), contain the proceedings from the workshop Addressing Violence in Criminal Justice Practice held from January 21-22, 2004, in Washington, DC. The primary focus of the workshop was to enable participants to discuss and focus their ideas about preventing and lessening the effects of violence. The topics discussed in the workshop were Approaches to Violence Reduction and Prevention; Addressing Violence Problems in a Problem Solving and Theoretical Context, The SACSI/PSN Experience in St. Louis - Trauma Intervention Program, Most Violent Offender Program/WOW Program, Fifth District Initiative, Initial PSN Findings, and Problem Solving Approaches; Linking Practitioners' Understanding of Violence with Approaches to Violence - Definitions of Violence, Systems Change, and Macro-level Factors; and Plenary Discussion Session - What needs to be known for guiding NIJ's future research directions.
