Crown attorneys of Ontario were surveyed on the adjudication process of alcohol-related criminal driving offenses.
Abstract
The results showed that alcohol-related criminal driving offenses are very common, but technically complicated offenses to prosecute. The data also demonstrated some variability in the adjudication process. Given the heavy workload and technical and evidentiary requirements, it is unlikely that the system could cope with large increases in drinking driving arrests. 2 tables, 1 note, and 18 references.
