FUNCTIONS, INFORMATION REQUIREMENTS, AND DATA FLOWS USED IN THE MASSACHUSETTS COURT SYSTEMS AND THEIR ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT AGENCIES.
Abstract
THE MASSACHUSETTS DISTRICT COURTS, SUPERIOR COURTS, JUVENILE COURTS, AND THE SUPREME JUDICIAL COURT ARE EXAMINED IN TURN. THEIR GENERAL PURPOSES AND FUNCTIONS ARE PRESENTED ALONG WITH APPROPRIATE MASSACHUSETTS STATE LAWS. AFTER BRIEF DESCRIPTIONS OF COURT OPERATION, THE PATTERN OF INFORMATION TRIGGERED BY STANDARD OCCURRENCES, CALLED EVENTS, IS DISCUSSED IN DETAIL. NARRATIVE DESCRIPTIONS, ILLUSTRATED BY FLOW CHARTS, SHOW HOW INFORMATION IS RECEIVED, RECORDED, AND TRANSFERED AS CASES PROGRESS. ADMINISTRATIVE EVENTS, SUCH AS THE PREPARATION OF THE SUPREME JUDICIAL COURT ANNUAL REPORT BY THE OFFICE OF THE EXECUTIVE SECRETARY ARE ALSO PRESENTED.
