This report describes the workload and activities of the United States courts of appeals and district courts in 1970.
Abstract
Statistics are also presented on the status of judicial appropriations, matters relating to supplies and quarters, bankruptcy cases, and probation caseloads. Highlights include a 14-percent increase in case filings over the previous year, a civil case backlog of 93,207 cases, a 5-percent increase in bankruptcy filings, and 337 pending petitions for reviews of referees' orders. Figures and extensive data tables are provided.
