THE AUTHOR DETAILS THE CASE FOR ADMISSIBILITY OF POLYGRAPH EVIDENCE FROM BOTH A SCIENTIFIC AND A LEGAL PERSPECTIVE, AND DISCUSSES RECENT STATE AND FEDERAL COURT DECISIONS FAVORING ADMISSION OF SUCH EVIDENCE.
Abstract
COMPREHENSIVE LEGISLATION, PROPOSED IN CALIFORNIA, IS EXAMINED TO ILLUSTRATE HOW THE VARIOUS PROBLEMS RELATED TO THE ADMISSIBILITY OF POLYGRAPH EVIDENCE COULD BE SURRMOUNTED. THE CONCLUSION IS THAT THE RELIABILITY AND VALIDITY OF POLYGRAPHY AND ITS PROBATIVE VALUE AS EVIDENCE OF CREDIBILITY CAN NO LONGER BE DOUBTED.
