SPECIAL GROUP SESSIONS AND PEER SELF-SELECTED GROUPS ARE SUGGESTED AS SUPPORT SYSTEMS WHICH INSIST ON SHARING, INTERDEPENDENCE, HONESTY, CONCERN, AND INVOLVEMENT IN DEALING WITH ADOLESCENT DEVIANCE.
Abstract
UTILIZATION OF PEERS, CHOSEN BY THE ADOLESCENT CLIENTS, ENABLES THE ADOLESCENT TO TAKE AN ACTIVE ROLE IN HIS OWN THERAPY, AS WELL AS OFFERING A SOURCE OF IDENTIFICATION WITH THE THERAPEUTIC INSTITUTION. COMMITMENTS MADE TO SELF-CHOSEN PEERS, MOREOVER, WERE FOUND TO BE LESS OFTEN BROKEN, AND CONTACT IS MAINTAINED BEYOND THE THERAPY SESSIONS.
