The "agenda for justice" of the American Bar Association (ABA) reflects three overriding principles: (1) any change to the justice system should be based on protecting and enhancing the ability of all persons to use the system; (2) reform should be directed to building an efficient and effective justice system; and (3) the justice system should ensure equal justice under law.
Abstract
The ABA agenda is divided into four basic parts. The first part focuses on the administration of justice (justice system funding, the public and the justice system, and professionalism and judicial excellence). The second part is concerned with criminal justice (violence, drugs, crime victims, competing goals in sentencing and corrections, and constitutional rights). The third part deals with civil justice and legal services, while the fourth part covers the justice system and families, women, and children. Appendixes contain ABA policies and excerpts from ABA reports and studies. Tables and endnotes
