Abstract
The guidelines emphasize that casual contact does not transmit AIDS. They also explain the importance of avoiding sharing intravenous needles or passing blood or body fluids through sexual or other contact, because AIDS is currently fatal and incurable. The treatment of AIDS and the legal rights of prisoners and correctional staff are also summarized. A glossary and addresses of organizations from which to obtain further information.
