THIS MANUAL PROVIDES GUIDELINES FOR CREATING A PROGRAM TO TRAIN EXPERIENCED STREET POLICE OFFICERS IN THE TECHNIQUES OF THE AIRBORNE OBSERVER.
Abstract
THE KEY TO ANY AIRBORNE PROGRAM IS THE OBSERVER. STRONG EMPHASIS IS PLACED ON OBSERVER SELECTION CRITERIA AND THE NEED FOR A CONTROLLED TRAINING PROGRAM TO INCREASE AIRBORNE TEAM EFFICIENCY. ALTHOUGH NOT A TRAINING COURSE IN ITSELF, THE PRACTICAL HINTS GLEANED FROM MEMBERS OF AIRBORNE PROGRAMS THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY SHOULD BE HELPFUL TO TRAINING COURSE DESIGNERS. THE USE OF RADIOS, CAMERAS, SEARCHLIGHTS, NIGHT VISION EQUIPMENT, AND OTHER DEVICES, ARE COVERED AS PRACTICAL TIPS TO THE COURSE DESIGNER AND INSTRUCTOR. AN OUTLINE OF A TYPICAL TRAINING COURSE IS PROVIDED.
