ETHNIC CHARACTERISTICS OF OFFENDERS INCARCERATED IN ALASKA.
Abstract
EMPIRICAL SURVEY OF OFFENDERS REVEALED DATA SIGNIFICANT RELATIVE TO THE USE OF ALCOHOL IN BOTH CAUCASIAN AND NATIVE ETHNIC GROUPS. MANY VARIABLES WERE FOUND TO BE SIMILAR, BUT THE TWO GROUPS DIFFERED IN MARITAL STATUS, NUMBER OF DEPENDENTS, YEARS OF EDUCATION, SIBLINGS WHO HAVE BEEN INCARCERATED, TYPE OF OFFENSE, DRINKING AT THE TIME OF OFFENSE, AND LENGTH OF SENTENCE AND FREQUENCY.
