Alcohol use is prominent among teenagers and has elicited rising concerns among parents, health practitioners, social policymakers, and the public at large.
Abstract
The author examines issues associated with juvenile alcohol use, such as what is known about young people and drinking, the extent of juvenile alcohol use, and how juvenile alcohol use can be assessed and prevented. Research from multiple fields of study is integrated that describes measurement approaches (survey and clinical diagnostic), risk and protective factors, findings from prominent prevention and treatment studies, and future research directions. The book considers the etiology of juvenile alcohol use and its developmental course, prevention, and treatment. References, tables, and figures
