Abstract
ALERT (AUTOMATED LAW ENFORCEMENT RESPONSE TEAM) WHICH DEVELOPED AS A SOURCE OF INFORMATION FOR THE MAN IN THE FIELD, HAS GROWN IN SIZE AND CAPABILITY INTO TWO SYSTEMS SHARING A COMMON CRIMINAL DATA BASE. THE AUTOMATED POLICE INFORMATION SYSTEM, ALERT I, HANDLES PAYROLL, MONTHLY OFFENSE, ARREST, AND TRAFFIC STATISTICS REPORTS AND DAILY INTELLIGENCE INFORMATION, CLEARANCE SUMMARIES, PICKUP LISTINGS, AND STOLEN AUTO DATA, IN ADDITION TO QUICK INFORMATION FOR THE POLICEMAN. ALERT II, AUTOMATED CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM, IS AN EXPANSION OF ALERT I WITH ADDITIONAL JUSTICE APPLICATIONS THAT SERVES THE PROSECUTOR AND THE COURTS. THE ALERT SYSTEM IS CONSIDERED AN ALL-ENCOMPASSING LAW ENFORCEMENT AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE INFORMATION SYSTEM. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
