Alternative sources of funding and technical assistance for State courts are listed and briefly described.
Abstract
Funding and/or technical assistance for State courts are listed from eight types of sources: 1) Federal agency sources, 2) source materials, 3) LEAA-funded technical assistance projects, 4) National Center for State Courts--National Scope Projects, 5) the Criminal Courts Technical Assistance Project, 6) clearinghouses, 7) the National Directory of Court-Related Organizations, and 8) court-related publications. Federal fund sources for various court needs that are briefly described include the National Institute of Corrections, Economic Development Office of the Department of Commerce, the Office of Revenue Sharing of the Department of the Treasury, the National Science Foundation, and the National Institutes of Alcohol Abuse, Mental Health, and Drug Abuse. A detailed description is provided of the services and procedure for requesting assistance from the Criminal Courts Technical Assistance Project, which is a service arm of the Adjudication Division of LEAA's Office of Criminal Justice Programs and serves as a broad-based resource for all segments of the courts community. Organizational objectives and regional contacts are also provided for the National Juvenile Court Services Association. The addresses of 35 national organizations are listed under a national directory of court-related organizations.
