SYSTEMS DESIGN RECOMMENDATIONS FOR INFORMATION HANDLING IN MISSOURI'S COUNTY COURTS SYSTEM, PROPOSED AS A MEANS TO INCREASE EFFICIENCY AND REDUCE BACKLOG AND DELAYS.
Abstract
FOLLOWING AN ANALYSIS OF CURRENT INFORMATION HANDLING PROCEDURES AND CONSTRAINTS BASED ON A STUDY OF THE BOONE COUNTY MAGISTRATE COURT, THE AUTHOR PRESENTS FIVE ALTERNATIVE SYSTEMS APPROACHES TO IMPROVING COUNTY COURT INFORMATION PROCESSING. THE FIVE APPROACHES REPRESENT THE MANUAL, SEMI-AUTOMATED, CENTRALIZED SEMI-AUTOMATED, FULLY AUTOMATED (MINI-COMPUTER), AND TIME SHARING MODES. MICROFILM APPLICATIONS TO STORAGE OF DISPOSED CASES ARE ALSO DISCUSSED. AFTER EXPLORING THE ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF EACH PROPOSED SYSTEM, THE AUTHOR RECOMMENDS ADOPTION OF A SYSTEMS PLAN WHICH WOULD PROVIDE AN EFFICIENT MANUAL SYSTEM FOR SMALLER COUNTIES AND AN AUTOMATED VERSION OF THE SYSTEM FOR THE LARGER COUNTIES.
