Abstract
He talks about his survival, family relationships, and parental influences on his life. He also deals with cultural issues related to the relocation of Mexican families in California, the influence of the school setting on gang activities, the police response to gangs, his suicide attempt, conflict between rival gangs, and gang violence. In addition, the author examines the racial tensions among black, white, and Hispanic gangs and describes how was able to extricate himself from the gang environment and become a responsible member of society.
