This conference issue of AMBER Advocate presents several articles from Federal, State, local, and foreign government and nongovernmental agencies and organizations on child abduction initiatives and innovations under the AMBER Alert program.
Abstract
Highlights of articles in this issue are presented. First, ways to forge partnerships between two different, yet vitally important professions, law enforcement and broadcasters was addressed at the 2008 National AMBER Alert Conference. Second, Florida AMBER Alert Coordinator, Donna Hodges was recognized at the 2008 National AMBER Alert Conference as AMBER Alert Coordinator of the year. Third, during the 2008 Conference, several AMBER Alert coordinators in attendance were forced to leave due to the issuance of an AMBER Alert in New Jersey. Fourth, Arizona launched the Endangered Person Alert in October 2008 to help find missing persons who do not meet the AMBER Alert criteria. Fifth, the Netherlands successfully launched a nationwide AMBER Alert system in 2008. Sixth, the mother of an abducted and then murdered child and who participated in the Family Roundtable at the 2008 National AMBER Alert Conference provided a list of do’s and don’ts in child abduction cases. This issue also contains additional information, resources, and events related to the AMBER Alert program.
