This manual explains the background and eight components of a training program designed to assist offenders and others in developing personal skills in the areas of motivation, goal setting, problem solving and decisionmaking, emotional control, family relationships, financial stability, effective communication, and employment search and retention.
Abstract
The program operates within the structure of peer group relationships, using audio and visual aides, controlled group discussion, and repetition. A facilitator guides participants through the daily lessons. The program can be used by itself or to support existing programs. It is intended for agency personnel training as well as for slow learners, underachievers, school dropouts, welfare recipients, inmates, probationers and parolees, alcoholics and drug addicts, persons in family crisis, and persons with disabilities.
