Abstract
AS SOCIETY BECOMES MORE INDUSTRIALIZED AND BUREAUCRATIC, NONFAMILY INSTITUTIONS ARE TAKING OVER THE TRADITIONAL TASKS OF THE FAMILY. THE FAMILY IS LEFT TO THE ROLES OF PROVIDING AFFECTION, COMPANIONSHIP, AND EMOTIONAL SUPPORT FOR ITS MEMBERS. THE MOUNTING INSECURITIES AND BARRIERS FOR FULFILLING SOCIETY'S EXPECTATIONS THAT CHILDREN AND FAMILIES EXPERIENCE ARE DELINEATED. THE AUDIOTAPE CASSETTE IS SUITABLE FOR GENERAL AUDIENCES. A TABLE OF CONTENTS IS INCLUDED, BUT OTHER SUPPORTING MATERIALS ARE NOT PROVIDED. FOR RELATED TAPES, SEE NCJ 69273-82 AND 69284-85.
