The statistics reported here show an 8 percent increase in the number of offenses committed in Oregon in 1980 (i.e., a 4 percent increase in the crime rate). Of these, the Crime Index constituted 50 percent.
Abstract
Tabulated data indicate full-time law enforcement employees and a detailed breakdown of statewide offense and arrest statistics. Total offenses; Index offenses by percent distribution, arrests and clearances, and by type of stolen property; arrests statewide, male, and female; arrest rates by category; and median age of persons arrested are among the data represented. Further tabulations include murder rate; forcible rape rate; aggravated assault rate; burglary, larceny, and shoplifting rates, rates of theft from motor vehicles; bicycle theft rates; motor vehicle theft rates; and rates of forgery, fraud, arson, vandalism, drug abuse, and sex offenses. Juvenile runaway rates and assaults against police officers by county are also cited. Tabulations by county give offense rates; offenses, arrests, and clearances; and arrest data by age groups. The bulk of the document is in tabular form.
